5 Quick & Easy Back-to-School Bento Lunch Box Ideas

Back to school

School is back in session and with it comes the challenge of keeping your child’s Bentgo lunch box packed with interesting and nutritious meals. We’re confident these five quick and easy kids lunch box ideas will not only add variety to your child’s diet, but will also provide the high-energy brain food needed to get through an entire day of learning.

1. Meatless Mondays

Celebrating Meatless Mondays for just one meal a week is a wonderful way to incorporate more fruits, vegetables and whole grains into your child’s lunch bag. On Mondays, fill your Bentgo Kids lunch boxes with fresh apple slices, mandarin orange sections and whole blueberries. Add 2 Mini Babybels, a handful of whole-grain chips and your favorite dried fruit mix for a meatless meal that’s packed with vitamins, fiber and protein.

2. PB&J Sushi Rolls

Put a fun spin on an old favorite by introducing Peanut Butter & Jelly Sushi Rolls into your weekly lunch rotation. Packed with protein, fiber and good fats, these tasty rolls provide the fuel the brain needs for academic success. Assembly takes less than three minutes. All you need is two tablespoons of peanut butter, two tablespoons of flavored jam, and two slices of bread. Take the crust off the bread slices and flatten them with a rolling pin. Smooth half of the peanut butter and jam on one slice and roll tightly into a spiral. Repeat for the second slice. Refrigerate overnight. In the morning, cut each spiral into four sushi rolls and add to the large compartment of Bentgo Kids.

3. Mini Turkey & Cheese Pita Pockets

After a week or so, the same turkey sandwich gets boring. Mix it up with healthy and tasty Mini Turkey & Cheese Pita Pockets. To make these you will need two mini size pita pockets, six thin deli turkey slices, one big slice of Monterey Jack, two bib lettuce leaves, and one tablespoon of honey mustard. Spread half the honey mustard along the inside of one mini size pita pocket. Line the pocket with one of the bib lettuce leaves. Stack three flat slices of turkey with half a slice of the cheese and roll. Stuff the turkey roll inside the pita pocket. Repeat for the second pita pocket.

4. Taco Chips & Dip

If there’s one thing all kids love to do at meal time, it’s dipping. In addition to making lunch more fun, this nutritious dipper idea delivers a healthy dose of calcium and protein. Here’s what you’ll need: 13 large tortilla chips, one cup of pre-cooked and shredded rotisserie chicken, half a cup of shredded Monterey Jack, and ¼ cup salsa. If your child is a fan of avocado, add guacamole as well. Assemble to taste during lunch time.

5. Ham & Cheese Kabobs

Kabobs are a fun and easy way to jazz up meat, cheese, and veggies. For these Ham & Cheese Kabobs, you’ll need 2 wooden skewers (trimmed so they fit into the large compartment of your Bentgo lunch box), cubed ham, cubed cheddar, and cherry tomatoes. Load each skewer alternating ham, cheese, and tomatoes. Pack along with crackers and red grapes.
